Located at the confluence of the Arabian Sea, an island at some distance from the coastline of Karachi, the city of lights, remains hidden from the eyes of all people, and also deprived of basic facilities due to the lack of attention of the government. Reaching the island For this, you need to hire a boat taxi at Kemari port for around 600 rupees, which will take you across the water in just 10 minutes to Baba Island. 90% of them are engaged in repairing boats or setting nets. The island used to be part of the mangroves but is struggling to survive due to lack of government attention. Residents lack access to adequate clean water supply, waste disposal facilities and health facilities, but women on the island now have access to a small clinic called Mama Bay, run by midwife Neha Mankani. Be Fund has opened, apart from Baba Island, this clinic is providing health related facilities to the women of Shams Pir and Bhat Islands. Tahira, coordinator of Mama Baby Fund, said that our focus is on women's health and pregnant women. while we also help children who need ICU. He further said that sometimes our staff also deal with serious cases including cases of miscarriages of women and during emergencies we Women are transferred to Lady Differn Hospital and Kharadar General Hospital where our staff fully cooperates. One of the biggest problems facing the island is transportation. This service will be provided round the clock free of charge to Baba, Bhat, and Shams Pir islands, while an old boat has been repaired to be able to carry a ventilator and oxygen. About 60 thousand rupees, during this time on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr by Mama Baby Fund, Mehndi was applied to the women and girls of Baba Island, gifts, bangles and clothes were distributed to the children and they were given stationery items. Along with this, food items were given which put a smile on the faces of the children.
