Imran Khan is a Pakistani politician, former cricketer, and the current Prime Minister of Pakistan. He was born on October 5, 1952, in Lahore, Pakistan. He was the only son of Ikramullah Khan Niazi, a civil engineer, and Shaukat Khanum. Imran Khan completed his education in Pakistan and then went on to study at the University of Oxford in England.
Cricket Career:
Imran Khan is most famous for his cricketing career. He made his debut for the Pakistan national cricket team in 1971 and played for 21 years. He is considered one of the greatest all-rounders in the history of the game. He played 88 Test matches and 175 One Day Internationals (ODIs) for Pakistan, scoring over 7,000 runs and taking more than 600 wickets. He also led the Pakistan cricket team to victory in the 1992 Cricket World Cup.
Political Career:
After retiring from cricket, Imran Khan became involved in philanthropy and social work. He founded the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in memory of his mother, who died of cancer. He also founded the Namal College in Mianwali, Pakistan, to provide higher education opportunities to students from rural areas.
In 1996, Imran Khan founded his own political party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), with the aim of fighting corruption and promoting social justice in Pakistan. He contested several elections but was unsuccessful in winning a seat in the National Assembly until the 2013 general elections when he won from two different constituencies. In 2018, his party won the general elections, and Imran Khan was sworn in as the Prime Minister of Pakistan on August 18, 2018.
Personal Life:
Imran Khan was married twice. His first marriage was to British heiress Jemima Goldsmith in 1995, and they had two sons together before getting divorced in 2004. In 2015, Imran Khan married his spiritual adviser, Bushra Maneka. He also has a daughter from a previous relationship.
Imran Khan is known for his philanthropy work, and he has received several awards for his efforts, including the Order of Pakistan, Pakistan's highest civilian award, and the Hilal-i-Imtiaz, Pakistan's second-highest civilian award.
